play and work

The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.” - Ellen Langer

Inspirational speakers do not always have fun doing what they do. They work like your world class professional athletes too.

You will see me talk for 30 minutes, but you have not seen my 3 days of preparation to come up with the right message and find the right words to create the right impact. I needed to regularly rethink not only my stories and strategies and structures. This is because I am not a commodity, but a problem solver. My speech is not a product but a solution.

But the only way for me to appreciate what I am doing (I am writing 2:57 in the morning) is to see this as an expression of my passion. I am seriously working on my play (passion) to reach my potential and playing on my work to maintain creative joy.

I must not fear

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." --- Frank Herbert, Recommended Readings: Fears in Speaking are Learned What is Your Big Idea?
